The 60th anniversary edition of Nor-Shipping in Oslo was buzzing with talk about the maritime industry’s clean energy future.

Tore Boge, Head of EU projects at Maritime CleanTech.
Flagships was featured all week at Maritime CleanTech’s community stand alongside other leading decarbonisation initiatives. Partners ABB, SEAM, and LMG Marin also made their mark with their own stands where they exhibited their solutions.
The story of how the Flagships project has realised two clean hydrogen-powered cargo vessels on European waterways was highlighted during Wednesday’s packed BlueTalk session on Decarbonisation and Funding Opportunities.
Tore Boge, Head of EU projects at Maritime CleanTech, showcased how Flagships has brought together research and industry partners with public stakeholders at the EU and national level to raise the readiness level of zero-emission technology in the shipping sector. The 2024 launches of H2 Barge 2 in Rotterdam and Zulu 06 in Paris were used to illustrate how European funding mechanism unlocks opportunities for shipowners and techn companies to realise innovative solutions.
Boge and the other panelists also emphasised the importance of partnership and commitment from both private and public stakeholders to scale up clean shipping solutions. Here, experiences from the Flagships project can play a critical role in enabling further uptake of zero-emission technology in line with EU and IMO climate targets for 2030 and 2050.
In spite of challenging geopolitical and macroeconomic circumstances, Nor-Shipping 2025 made it clear that decarbonisation and the clean energy transition are still on the industry’s agenda – and that the solutions and learnings from Flagships remain as relevant as ever.
